"If you see anything mysterious or unusual,
just enjoy it while you still can."
People often write asking how they can help as a volunteer.
The HEMP Embassy runs an information centre/ paraphenalia shop
in Nimbin all year round to fund our fight against cannabis
laws. This is staffed by rostered volunteers
who live locally.
Every year, on the first weekend in May, we have the Nimbin
MardiGrass Drug Law Reform Rally. To do this takes lots of volunteers
who live locally OR are attending the MardiGrass. We have volunteers
from all over the world who come to help make MardiGrass possible,
not just stand and watch. It's fantastic to see. Feel free to
come and joint in.
If you ever come to Australia, drop in to the HEMP Embassy
in Nimbin. Try to make it coincide with MardiGrass, if u can....otherwise,
oppose stupid laws wherever you are, and you will be helping
us all...
That is the Norml state of affairs, but if you feel you have
special skills that could help the cause, or see a need that
isn't catered to, then communicate and contribute.
Artists are allways welcome to submit hemp related artworks...
This is a very long page, with
links to all sorts of cannabis related information. Please enjoy
your browse.

Marc Emery, the leader of the BC
Marijuana Party, a retailer of seeds having started Marc Emery
Direct Marijuana Seeds in 1995, and founder of Cannabis Culture
magazine, has been arrested in Canada on a US warrant seeking
extradition for the crime of supplying seeds. The link below is
the DEA press release.
This is a significant development
in anti hemp politics, and worth following as it develops further.
There will be a very colourful
demonstration/protest in Nimbin "in defense of cannabis
culture" on September10-2005, one element of which will
be a live webcast from the www.BigBongMobile.com
and the www.nimbinhempbar.com
This Saturday September 10th
Nimbin H*E*M*P Embassy will be joining a Global Protest about
an unprecedented escalation by the Bush administration in their
failed War on Drug Users. In an alarming infringement on Canadian
Sovereignty they are attempting to extradite Marc Emery and
several of his cannabis law reform activist crew to face life
in jail in America, or even the death sentence.
Known as the 'Prince of Pot', Marc Emery is the founder of Cannabis
Culture Magazine and mail order seed distribution network in
Canada. He has always been outspoken on cannabis law reform
and prohibition, starting a political party and supporting law
reformers and compassion clubs with the profits of the magazine
/seed business - while paying half a million dollars in tax.
Google Marc Emery and you will
find a career that Marc himself describes as 'revolutionary
retail' or 'capitalist activism'. When he started his career
everything about cannabis was illegal in Canada. Marc has been
instrumental in the big changes and has always been pointedly
transparent in his dealings with every politician getting a
free subscription to Cannabis Culture.
For several years now Cannabis
Culture have sent photographers and journalists to cover Nimbin's
MardiGrass. Marc and several of his friends, including Greg
Williams, aka Marijuana Man, who twice attended MardiGrass,
were arrested in August and now await the outcome of a political
struggle.
Largely because of Emery and
his cohorts, cannabis has become a quasi legal multi billion
dollar industry in Canada today. Perhaps half a million people
are growing and selling marijuana which is consumed by millions
of Canadians and Americans. Canadian growers, dealers, and seed
sellers deal with Americans every day. Theoretically now they
could all be extradited and considered party to a conspiracy
to import marijuana into the United States!
'The Shed', who set this years
MardiGrass crowd alight when they played from the back of a
truck parked outside the Embassy, promise a repeat performance
along with Intergalactic Blues Mafia. Live music begins at 12
30. Supporters are urged to check out Marc Emery details, there
are links from our website www.hempembassy.net
"America's war on drugs is very selective. How come herbal
pain relief isn't allowed? Cannabis has been used as medicine
for thousands of years, not to mention feeding, clothing and
sheltering our ancestors as well. Its time we all stood up against
this ridiculous war on (some) drugs and its now glaring disastrous
consequences", said Michael Balderstone, H*E*M*P* Embassy
Spokesman.
Further details, contact the
H*E*M*P Embassy 0266891842 or the web site.
"The attempt by the D.E.A
to silence Marc Emery could be the first real signal that they
are about to embark upon a global campaign to maintain their
"Prisons for Profits" Industry", said Max Stone,
the nonofficial smokesperson from the Australian Cannabis Law
Reform Movement who will be webcasting the Nimbin Protest.
Email from Greg Williams, one of those the US seeks
to extradite....
"High to all my friends in Nimbin!
As you know Marc, Michelle and myself have been charged and
are fighting
extradition to the U.S.
This is very serious and has wild negative consequences for
the advancement of the end of prohibition not only here in Canada
but around the world, unless we beat this.
It's going to be a long drawn out affair and is going to be
very expensive....we need your help.
Any fundraising efforts you can pull off would be greatly appreciated.
I've included the petition we are circulating.....you never
know it might help.
Thanks.
Peace and Pot!
Greg"
(For all you millions of Canadians reading this right
now, here's
a .pdf of the petition. Sign it, and spread the word throughout
all of Canada....please.)

anti-drug propaganda?

The consumption of cannabis is seen as a symbol of
the fight against established values. This is why conservatives
are so opposed to it. A conservative feels that the questioning
of current values or accepted wisdoms is a BAD thing, while
free thinkers welcome it as a sign of a healthy open society.
As the Twenty First Century begins the world finds
itself focusing on terrorism, and as a result, limiting individual
freedoms. We are moving towards a society where people who think
outside the square are screened out of employment and neutralised.
We are moving towards economic totalitarianism.
Cannabis use is an innocent victim of this. Its use
is no guarantee of open mindedness or dissent, or any antisocial
characteristic.
After all, George W. Bush smoked pot at college, and
went on to become an icon of conservative America. It makes
a mockery of the idea of cannabis as a mind altering substance,
doesn’t it?
Here’s to a world where terrorism can be resisted,
politicians can posture, individual liberty can still be respected,
and cannabis users are not branded criminals.
The "Tomato Sauce Factory", home of the Nimbin
HEMP Embassy.
When the Embassy first had a website, it was
hosted by http://nrg.com.au
and they have been great to us. The old HEMP Embassy site is
still there, just as it was before MardiGrass in May of 2003.
Take a look at the way we were then.....
ANOTHER
VIEWPOINT
I watched Montel Williams yesterday, and he had a whole TV
show on how he is dealing with his pain from MS by smoking Marijuana.
He calls it medical marijuana, which I believe is known as marinol
which is the only approved marijuana. So if he is smoking it,
it is not marinol, and is not approved medical marijuana. I
think he was kind of on the right track of openly admitting
to the world that he used it to control his pain. He stated
that he is not asking for legalization of Marijuana, just a
re-categorization of its class from class one to class two.
Right now I guess its as illegal as heroin the way the law is
written.
I on the other hand think it should be just ignored all together.
There is enough knowledge about it where those of us who use
it and study its benefits, and have found that it is merely
a part of our lives, and any one who has used it over the years,
I am sure have the same conclusions as me. My position is that
I am sure it has all sorts of medical uses, but personally I
am not interested in that avenue. I think when you deal with
a buraucracy like the FDA, you're asking for hangups. The FDA
is owned by the pharmaceutical companies, and they own most
of the doctors too. There's too much at risk for them if it
is legalized or decriminalized, and as long as they have that
power, it ain't gonna happen.
I was reading an article from the same website that used your
statements, and i read that the Mormans brought it back from
Mexico, and the church didn't like it so they made part of their
religion is that you can't smoke pot. later on utah, california
and texas outlawed anything that the morman church outlawed,
making it state law.................Isn't that a mixture of
church and state? Wow, maybe we have a whole new approach!!!
anyway, I appreciate your work, please continue.
Hemp
SA have some very
good information on CEN's (Cannabis Expiation Notices) versus
Zero Tolerance in South Australia, Family First in South Australia's
Parliament, and the new one outdoor plant limit for notices.
Keep on toking, keep on joking,
and one day they'll give Pot a chance....
There are a lot of us who’d like to see the cannabis
laws thrown out. There is a much better financed mob who’d
like them to stay the same, or be made harsher.
Studies looking for positive cannabis attributes don’t
get the funding priority that studies looking for harmful effects
do. Add to that the number of people who think that any further
relaxation of social mores will cause the collapse of life as
they know it, and the opportunists prepared to exploit such
fears, and you begin to see the difficulty we have of making
any headway in the current socio-political environment.
This is not said for negativity. It is said as a measure of
the long term determination we must have to one day see an end
to the demonisation of herbs, and in particular, cannabis.
There is no wrong or evil in smoking cannabis that justifies
fines and imprisonment, or the humiliations of searches and
nights in watch-houses.
Fat and sugar have dangers, so cannabis must have some of some
sort surely? Well you might think so, and many do, so why is
it that no-one can prove it does any specific harm? Every study
seems to have a disagreeing counterpart. They can’t even
prove that cannabis impairs driving skills. Some studies claim
an improvement.
Unfortunately, the anti-cannabis position has become part of
right wing social dogma, and with that status you need something
big to change it.
While we mightn’t expect cannabis laws to change in a
positive way soon, we should not stop trying to change, nor
cease to oppose such laws.
Hopefully, you too will continue to oppose stupid laws of
any kind, and strive for a dignity that does not depend on status,
wealth, or the diminishment of others.
Join us every May to celebrate your kinship with the rest of
the Harmless Herb Smoking Earthlings.
We will continue to fight ignorance, prejudice, and warped
ideology. We will continue to hold the most peaceful festival
around to demonstrate the positive side of cannabis, and protest
against criminalised cannabis.

This has already been
decided, but the webpage remains static. The Judges at the SuperBowl

much chasing of his prize Neil was naturally disappointed when
eventually sent $500.00 Australian. That's Free Trade for you.
After ten thousand years of hemp use,
we find ourselves in the 77th year of Hemp Prohibition in Australia,
and the 66th year of Hemp Prohibition by the Federal Government
of the United States of America.
